In Memory of Alejandro: Help Jorge

This is a fundraiser for Jorge Valencia, who was involved in a catastrophic car accident in Buga, Colombia. Although he walked away unharmed, his car was totaled. Jorge works as a driver-for-hire and would drive my father, Alejandro Jose Gallard Prio, and his wife, Maria Cristina Jaramillo, to do errands and local excursions. My dad recently passed away and Maria Cristina thought that helping Jorge purchase a new used car would be something Dad would have done. She believes that Dad would have jumped at the opportunity to help—because for him, every need was an opportunity to provide assistance. He always said that he helped out of selfishness, because helping others made him feel good, made him happy.

Our goal is to collect $1,000 from this group. Maria Cristina has already collected $300, and Jorge may generate $200 from the damaged vehicle. She believes Jorge may find a replacement vehicle for around $1,500.

So, in memory of Alejandro Jose Gallard Prio, and to honor his spirit of generosity—giving without expecting anything in return—we are offering this opportunity to help.
