He had a long and distinguished career in the food and beverage industry. He served as President and CEO of several national and regional chains, started and managed many of his own businesses and then worked as a consultant for numerous years in the hospitality industry.
One of the best networkers for great causes, he connected in so many ways with people from all walks of life. Whether it be charitable, political, community or business Alex was a master at connecting the right people at exactly the right time.
Although diminutive in height, Alex Bardy was a larger than life character, who brightened every room he ever walked into. Friends and acquaintances would gravitate to hear and chat with Alex. He was the “Mayor” in the hospitality industry. Whether it was at a small cocktail party or dinner, or with hundreds on his beloved Ovation and Infinity charter yachts, Alex made it his mission to welcome and regale all with a story, joke or kind words. His favorite was a glass of Chopin with a couple of olives, stuffed with bleu cheese, for both the taste and for aesthetics. And when the glass was empty, another full glass would appear.
When dining out with Alex, he was always the first to grab the check. You were his guest and you were his best friend. Alexander Philip Bardy, named after Alexander the Great and the noted Greek General Philip, he was the consummate host. We will miss you greatly and we toast you with great fondness for your dear friendship.
