In memory of Alina Torres

On January 15th, 2024, my best friend of 25 years went into labor a month early and had her son, Xavier, via c-section. Weighing in at 4lbs 9oz, he was small but he was perfectly healthy! Unfortunately, that was not the case for Alina. Her blood pressure was up and down, her potassium was low and her breathing was very shallow due to fluid in her lungs. During her c-section, the hospital believes she aspirated vomit. From there she developed aspiration pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. On January 22nd, 2024, just one week after having a brand new baby, Alina passed away at Rush Copley Hospital. A perfectly healthy otherwise 35 year old mother of 3. I am creating this fundraiser in memory of my best friend and to help her life partner of 16 years and, father of her children, figure out how he will raise his 3 children (Jordan 14, Juliana 8, and Xavier infant) without the love of his life.

Anything that you're able to contribute will be able to help this family through their unimaginable loss. Funeral costs, medical bills, and future needs for her partner and children who now have to navigate life without the best person I've ever known. This should have NEVER happened to them, she died too young. Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing an able to help this family
