For a parent, there is no scarier possibility than the loss of a child. Amelia had so much love to give and life yet to experience. We are all deeply saddened by her tragic passing. While we will carry the pain of Amelia’s loss with us forever and in different ways, we can try to take some comfort in the fact that she is now free from pain.
Suicide is currently the second leading cause of death for youth age 10 – 24. Talking about suicide is hard, uncomfortable, and something most people don’t expect to touch their lives, but it is impacting our communities nationwide. While we must grapple with the loss of Amelia in our lives forever, we hope to both honor Amelia’s life and raise awareness of this tragedy to help others currently struggling. Please talk with your loved ones and consider donating or getting involved with any organization in your community that can help such as the society for the prevention of teen suicide.
