Angela Denise Rannie, was a beautiful 15 yr old young lady with a “heart of gold”. She loved and adored her family and friends especially her Grandmother Angela, little brother Matthew and Cousin Ayanah. Angela passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14, 2024, due to complications with Sickle Cell Anemia.
Unfortunately, Angela’s grandmother was not financially prepared for this heartbreaking loss. No parent or grandparent should have to endure such a heartbreak and nightmare! Angela’s family is in dire need of financial support to send her home to her final resting place. Grandma also struggles with health issues and is raising two other minor children. One of the minor children suffers with Juvenile Diabetes.
Angela was a sophomore at Susan Wagner High School. Angela also attended IS 51 where Matthew and Ayanah now attend school. The school communities of PS 68, IS 51 and Susan Wagner High School are also grieving the loss of this beloved student.
Angela dreamed of becoming a registered nurse. She wanted to help others who suffered with Sickle Cell Anemia and other health issues. Angela loved to sing, dance, and play with her little brother, Matthew and cousin Ayanah, who was more like her little sister.
Angela and her little brother, Matthew were adopted by their grandmother years ago when they were little. Unfortunately, the children’s biological father passed away and their biological mother was not able to care for her children on her own. It was then, that Angela’s grandmother stepped in to take care of them. Young Angela was very mature for her age, and a huge help to her grandmother. She often helped Grandma with household chores and was like a second “Mom” to her younger brother and cousin. They even called her “Mama”. Despite her illness, she always made time for them and had tremendous faith in God.
I met the Rannie Family 5 years ago, just before the Covid-19 Pandemic began. I was working at P.S. 68, The Port Richmond School For Visionary Learning. Angela’s brother, Matthew, was one of our students there. It wasn’t long before I befriended Grandma Angela and young Angela. After hearing of their unique story, I took the Rannie Family under my wing especially during the pandemic of 2020. I was so honored, when Angela asked me to attend her 8th grade graduation from IS 51, along with my principal of P. S. 68, Lorrie Brown, and her grandmother, Angela Rannie. Young Angela was like the daughter I never had. She also shared the same first name as my beloved mother, Angela. Her maturity and love of her family and friends reminded me a lot of myself at her age. I would often visit her when she was in the hospital or speak to her on the phone regarding her brother and cousin’s progress in school.
This beautiful young lady has left a lasting imprint on not only my own heart but, anyone who knew her. My heart breaks for her family. If you would be so kind and generous to donate to her family during this difficult time it would be greatly appreciated.
Any denomination is welcome as we need to fund the cost of her burial and funeral ASAP! Please share this page too with your family, friends and community!
