In Memory of Ann Sager

Please consider donating to help Ann’s family with final expenses and to defray the medical costs associated with her treatment. During her 64-day hospitalization, Ann fought tenaciously and never lost her sense of humor. In the end, her huge heart gave out and we lost a piece of ours along with her. Ann was a beloved friend, mentor, and colleague. We will miss her puns, her laugh, and her dogged determination to do right because it's the right thing to do. Ann's obituary is below but it doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of who she was and the impact she had on everyone in her sphere. She will be greatly missed and mourned. Please help us to ease the financial burden on Ann's family.
Ann Lois Sager passed away at age 63 on December 28th, 2022. She fought for 64 days at UNC Rex hospital, overcoming many obstacles along the way. Ultimately, she lost to heart failure. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Leo, as well as their 2 daughters, Lily and Victoria. Ann was a loving wife and devoted mother, always looking out for the family. She maintained a friendship with her college friends of 45 years, doing weekly zoom calls which would last hours. Ann also volunteered in Girl Scouts heading up training new leaders and other activities. She loved the Girl Scout community.
She worked as a Business Analyst at UNC Chapel Hill and was a natural go-getter and leader to her group, as well as many departments. Everyone knew Ann and respected her and her loss is felt deeply across campus. Ann was a caring giver, no matter how she was involved. She knew everyone and was loved by many people. Don't dare her to dye her hair purple though!
Most weekends she could be found reading novels, doing puzzles, and cooking with her daughters. Ann was an avid crafter, ranging from counted cross stitch, card making with rubber stamps, and chronicling our lives together in scrapbook collections. She has many crafting friends. Ann loved to vacation on cruise ships and see the world. Her favorite was the natural beauty of Alaska, which she went to a few times. Other places such as Prince Edward Island were special to her from Anne of Green Gables fame, although the trip to St. Petersburg in Russia was among the top visits.
