In memory of Antonio Jonathan Aponte

In honor of Antonio Jonathan Aponte. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for contributions to the college fund of those he cherished most, his children, Jayden and Brooke.

Antonio Jonathan Aponte January 20, 1985 - July 14, 2024

Antonio Jonathan Aponte, 39, of New City, NY, passed away on July 14, 2024. Known to family and friends as Jonathan, he was born to Tony and Kimberly Aponte (Morales). After graduating from Ramapo High School in 2003, he pursued a degree in Psychology at Dominican College and later served as a New York City Corrections Officer.

He is survived by his children, Jayden and Brooke Aponte, and their mother Kristine; his parents, Tony and Kimberly; grandmothers Ana Aponte and Lucy Morales; and his brother, Christine Aponte. Jonathan was a beloved uncle to Jayvian and Jude Aponte and Erich Knuth, and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jonathan was widely known as a fun-loving, social, and charismatic individual who effortlessly brought joy to those around him. His vibrant personality made him the life of any gathering, capable of striking up conversations and bringing smiles to everyone he met.

Within his family circle, Jonathan cherished moments like family movie nights, eagerly participating in even the most ordinary activities simply to enjoy being together. His children held a special place in his heart, and his deep love for them was evident in every conversation. Despite his own preferences leaning towards lacrosse, football, and wrestling from his youth, Jonathan dedicated himself to learning baseball and gymnastics to actively support his kids' interests and activities.

Jonathan's commitment to his family and his infectious spirit will be dearly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A wake will be held on Thursday, July 18, from 4-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY.

A funeral mass will take place on Friday, July 19, at 10 AM at Saint Augustine’s Parish, 140 Maple Ave, New City, NY 10956, followed by burial at Gethsemene Cemetery, Rockland Lake, NY.
