In memory of Audra Sue Poppe
Miss Audra Poppe was tragically taken from this world far too soon in a way that no one ever should be.
Audra was a well-loved, fun loving, free spirit and that is how we all want to remember her. She will be so greatly missed by so many people. I had the privilege of knowing her for many many years as my best friend's baby sister.
No person or family should ever have to bear this kind of weight on their own.
I am starting a go fund me page for the Poppe family in hopes of relieving the financial burden of this awful tragedy. If you know the Poppe family, you know that they are such caring & selfless people, giving back to the community whenever they can. Now I want to give back to them at a time where they so desperately need it, but would never ask for it.
As a community who is supportive, generous, and loving let's lift them up in prayer during this time of grief.
If you are able to donate any amount of money to them, it would be so greatly appreciated. If you're not able to donate, we are just as thankful for the kind words, prayers, and support.
Here is a beautiful tribute to Audra, written by her beautiful sister, Allison Poppe:
"My sister, Audra, wasn’t exactly what I would call someone who made life easy on herself. This morning she was found dead. Stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend. Too much of her life can be partially defined by who she was dating. She had dated him since high school, and at least for a very long time, believed they were kindred spirits and saw herself in him and vice versa. They both became addicted to meth, and along with that, shared a lot of the same emotional swings, problems with authority, and spiritual beliefs.
Eventually, a new boyfriend entered the mix, with many of those same problems. At least for quite a while, it seems like there was a lot of back and forth emotions and probably something pretty close to a classic love triangle. He wasn’t any better for her though. In and out of jail and using, repeatedly being a part of her relapsing after being clean, never really for long.
Then about a year ago something changed. She came out of a treatment program and got a job… and kept it. She talked more regularly about how the guy she was with wasn’t healthy for her. She started to save money, pay off fines, finished her GED, and started saying no or walking away and leaving situations with friends who were putting her in toxic situations. She started working towards plans for the future, and for the first time, taking steps to make them happen. She met a new boyfriend, dumped the second one, and for the first time discovered what it was like to have someone treat her right. In the last week, she had plans to buy a car with the money she’d saved and next month had planned to move in with this new boyfriend. She seemed sure she wanted to marry him. Nobody had seen her so happy since before she was a teenager...."
