In memory of Becki Smith: Walking up Snowdon
Donation protected
Hey there everyone. My name's Chloé, and I've made this fundraiser on behalf of our father Craig, sisters Beth, Gabbie, Morgan, Sassy, Freya, brother C.J, and the guys at Blakemore's.
Rebekah Elizabeth Smith, our beloved, wonderful mother, passed away on the 25th of June at 2:20am after a short illness. We're devastated. She was adored by all who knew her, and to say she will be sorely missed is an understatement.
The phenomenal guys at Blakemore's are doing a sponsored walk up Mt. Snowdon in her memory on the 9th July.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Funds will be used for Becki's/Mom's funeral.
Thanks for reading - and don't forget to tell your loved ones you love them.
Here's something our Dad wrote for Mom: "I’m sat here nursing my wife on what is expected to be her last night with us but that was the same of last night and she made it and honestly I don’t know what I will do with myself when it happens, we met on the 4th February 1991 I was with my best mate Richard Taiwo in his mark 2 escort and his girlfriend said she would bring a friend to meet me so we’re sat in the car park of the British oak pub lanehead (now Tesco) and I see this rather gorgeous voluptuous blonde walking towards the car rather excited I said please tell me that’s her and it was ! Up until that day I never lasted more than a couple of weeks with anyone and if I’m honest wasn’t someone I’d be happy to see one of my daughters bring home but I was smitten I was head over heels very quickly, we soon settled down together even though we were young I was 17 she was 15 when we met but she had been in care and had a tough life which was the exact opposite of me and roll on to 30th May 1993 and our first daughter was born Chloe, it was the making of Becki so happy to be a mum and then on the 15th October 1995 I delivered Bethh Smith on the toilet floor myself this would mainly be my fault as Becki had spent hours trying to get me out of bed but based on how long Chloe’s labour had took I thought I could get a few more hours sleep which spectacularly backfired , on 29th August 1997 we got married, it was only a small wedding but we were happy to just be married then on 3rd November 1997 we had Gabrielle Loynes normal labour this time and definitely the happiest baby I’ve ever known then on 18th May 2001 Morgan Hope was born she actually delivered in the sack and they had to burst it once she came out, Morgan was very poorly when she was born and at one week old had to have open heart surgery she only weighed 5lb 10 at the time and this was a one month roller coaster before we got to take her home she had many issues along with her heart condition but we were focused and knew our job with someone so precious , but this happening to us took a terrible toll on becki’s mental health that was never great due to her childhood and she had a breakdown and began mental health medication, On 7th February 2003 we had Saskia Smith the first one I was allowed to name now we had got to 5 becki decided we would keep going for a boy so on 29th July 2006 we were so happy to welcome Cj Smith to the world who with all that female influence around was somehow a proper hand full boy . Then tragically on the 14th August 2007 Morgan got taken from us , we had done everything we could to keep her safe with her problems but her pacemaker broke just so cruel and tragic but we somehow kept going and we were blessed with one more blessing of Freya on 27th October 2009 we were actually happy it was a girl after finally experiencing a boy and over the last 4 years we’ve been blessed with 3 grandsons Vinnie Quinn and Eddie but the grief of losing Morgan become too much at times for becki and she is on a lot of mental health medication and over the years she gained a lot of weight but in march last year she convinced me it would be a good idea for her to have a gastric bypass and lose all her weight and go back to work so she had it done but a couple of months after in August last year she started to become unbalanced and confused and she was struggling to eat anything through constant pain in her stomach a thiamine deficiency was identified but the symptoms continued but at a slower pace but she was becoming less and less mobile but in April this year she got pneumonia and it was a bad one and once she got off oxygen and improved they sent her home catheterised so we’ve been doing our best with her but she’s been getting weaker and weaker and she was admitted again for tests and nutrition on 8th June , while here she has aspirated food onto her lungs and has severe pneumonia and they don’t expect her to pull through, I have sold my soul over and over over the last few days and I know I have to get through this for my family but the pain inside unbearable"
