In Memory of Brandon McKenzie
Donation protected
Brandon McKenzie was a member of CitySquash, a Bronx based youth development program. He was known for his bright, energetic smile, his love of squash, and for being a trusted friend and teammate. He joined the program in 2009 as a third grader, and along with his three siblings, was a valued member of our program and community into his high school years.
During the summer of 2017, it was discovered that Brandon had cancer. Surgery removed a tumor from his spine, but he lost most of his mobility. For the past 15 months, Brandon fought valiantly, and was able to still attend school part time. An avid sports fan, he found joy in following the NBA and other leagues, even though he was so cruelly robbed of his ability to run and play. His cancer eventually returned and Brandon passed away on November, 28th, 2018.
We are setting up a GoFundMe to assist the McKenzie family with the costs associated with Brandon's medical care and funeral. Please feel free to share with friends and family.
He is survived by his Mother, Renoir, and his step dad Javon; his sisters Jocelyn, Tyla, Brielle, Valerie, and Shavon.
Rest in peace, Brandon. Though your time here was too brief, your impact will live on in the family, friends, and teammates who were fortunate to know you.
Love,
Your CitySquash Family
