In Memory of Brenan: Aid for Abby and Family

Brenan Cullimore was playing basketball with his friends on Wednesday night (March 5, 2025) when he suddenly collapsed due to cardiac arrest. He passed away on Friday, March 7th surrounded by family and friends in Virginia. He leaves behind his beautiful wife Abby, his parents Steve and Soraya, older sister Briana, younger brother Saxon, dog Richie, his loving extended family, and countless cherished friends. Brenan was on track to graduate from the University of Virginia Medical School in 2027 and had plans to start a family with Abby soon.

Brenan was loved and admired by everyone who had the fortune to meet him. He cared for the people in his life so deeply and expressed this care every day. He was well known as one of the goofiest guys around, and his chronic lateness never failed to get a laugh from his friends and family. In the days since his passing one thing that has been abundantly clear is the impression he had made on us all. The outpouring of hilarious stories, moments of connection, and love expressed by his friends and family has been a testimony to what kind of man he was. He was one of the smartest and simultaneously humble people around, and many of his medical school classmates have expressed the loss that not only the people in his life, but also his future patients and colleagues, will feel with his passing. His death has brought people together in the way that he always did, and has served as a reminder to us all to hug those that we love a little tighter each day going forward.

Brenan was the love of Abby’s life. They have been married for a year and half. They share a lot of tender memories and were soul mates. 

Brenan’s passing was unfortunately complicated by an extensive ICU stay, which is expected to incur significant expenses for his wife and his family. In this time of great loss, we are asking for support from his community and those that loved him to help ease the burden of these expenses. These funds will additionally help cover memorial expenses and help his wife Abby and family with any traveling expenses.
