In Memory of Brian Hamill
We are going to be walking 8 miles from Linn Park (Glasgow South) to Victoria Park (Glasgow West) in memory of Brian Hamill who tragically passed away in May 2021. We will be walking through some of Brian’s favourite parks to visit - Linn Park, Queens Park, Kelvingrove, and finishing up at Victoria Park.
Brian was a fantastically witty, intelligent, charismatic and kind man who offered so much and was loved by so many. We miss him dearly, he will never be forgotten.
The money raised will be used to have a bench placed in his memory in one of his favourite park - Victoria Park, Glasgow. The cost of this is £1215.
The remaining funds will be split between 3 local Glasgow charities:
Brothers in Arms SCO48089 - Scotland’s first charity dedicated to reducing male suicide in Scotland. Empowering men to support & manage their own mental health through digital tech, film & social media.

Men Matter SCO49483- Exist to protect male mental health & prevent suicide in men by creating environments that provide possibility & wellbeing; through weekly sessions such as art clubs, talking groups & one-to-one peer support.

Glasgow Humane Society SCO001178

Glasgow Humane Society has been saving lives on and around Glasgow’s waterways for over 230 years.
Maria Salvanou will be nominated to make the donations on behalf of the fundraising team to each of the charities and will be dealing with the purchase of the memorial bench from Glasgow City council.
*For Participants of the Walk* - We would love participants of the walk to wear checked shirts on the day (if you have one!) and bring a book with a handwritten note inside to swap with another walker to honour Brian's love for the written word.
