In Memory of Carl Sauer

Donation protected
Carl Sauer had a laugh that was so big it was only eclipsed by his gentle heart. Carl reminded us to live life with a smile and encouraged all of us to be genuine and to celebrate our friends and family.

We tragically lost Carl on Feb 2, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Kristine, and two sons (Carl and Evan). We ask that you consider a donation to Carl's surviving family so that they can put it towards the boys' education or whatever needs might arise.

Message from the Sauer and Abeyta Families:

Words cannot express how grateful we are to Carl's friends, colleagues, and the community supporting Carl's family during this most difficult time. Your generosity and love is deeply moving.

We are heartbroken and miss Carl so much.
Your support is getting us through each day.
Please know that we see every message and receive every loving thought. If you are thinking about whether to reach out, but don't know whether the time is right, just reach out.

Carl loved to gather with friends and family, share stories about adventures or engineering, and of course, laugh out loud. To honor him, we will hold a memorial gathering on Saturday March 8 at 1 PM at the Rundus Funeral Home, 1998 West 10th Avenue, Broomfield, CO with a casual reception afterward at Carl's favorite neighborhood restaurant, Buenos Tiempos, 1000 Depot Hill Road, Broomfield, CO. Come as you are. We only ask that you bring your favorite stories about our beloved Carl and be ready to laugh, cry, hug, and support each other.

For those that cannot travel or feel more comfortable sharing their stories using a video, please submit your videos here and they will be shared at the memorial: https://app.memento.com/celebration-of-carls-life/AQQ9cb39dX/record. If email is easier for you, please send any photos, videos, or memories to [email redacted].

For anyone that cannot make the Colorado memorial, we will also celebrate Carl's life in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 19, 2025. Details to follow.

With gratitude,
The Sauer and Abeyta Families
