In memory of Cherie Baker

On behalf of our family, Marion and Myself (Mick) have made the decision to set up a go fund me for the funeral and memory of our sadly missed daughter Cherie Baker.

Our daughter Cherie sadly past away in her sleep no less than a week ago. Leaving behind a heartbroken son and daughter. A mother and father, sisters, nieces and nephews and plenty of friends also.

Cherie suffered immensely at the hands of an alcohol addiction. The severe mental health with depression and anxiety came hand in hand. Cherie tried so hard but could find no way out. She hoped and we hoped that the day would come that she wouldn’t have to go back to alcohol. The addiction was too strong. She would go a week without a drink in recent times and be positive that things would be better. But then a day would come with one bad thought and she would cave back in.

She didn’t get the help she deserved and no one does. She was evicted from her home wanting to better her life from there but instead Cherie was placed in a hostel with other addicts. The amount trips to hospital harming herself because of alcohol withdrawal induced seizures, should have been enough for them to see she needed help but it was all too late. She needed rehabilitation, she needed serious mental health support and was always turned away because every ‘professional’ listening ear thought she was completely fine by the looks of it.

All this being said Cherie needs the send of she deserves. She deserved better. Why does it have to get this far this for people receive the help they really need.

She was loved Immensely by every single person that crossed her path but most importantly her family. Not a day would go by that she wouldn’t speak to her children or parents. No matter what fit state she was in.

The amount of love and support everyone has shown has been mind blowing and we are all feeling so overwhelmed with love and support towards our family.

All leftover proceedings will go towards a charity Cherie supported called Epilepsy Action and one we’ve chosen as a family called Alcohol Change Uk.

No one should have to go though this turmoil.
