In Memory of Cindy Bass

Cindy Bass passed away on Thursday, April 6th, 2023 in the company of her two beloved sons, Alex and Lucas. Cindy was 59.

Cindy was a single mother before and throughout her first breast cancer diagnosis in the early fall of 2015. She fought and pushed through every day for her boys and made sure to always be there for them, which included never missing a soccer game, a practice, a school event, and everything else in between. Cindy was truly a remarkable woman, who always put others first. She never stopped fighting, and despite the challenges she faced, she always came out on top.

After some time, Cindy beat breast cancer and went into remission. However, she was then diagnosed with metastatic cancer in her liver in the fall of 2021. Despite this, she continued to fight and care for her boys.

Cindy was a special education teacher at Old Post Elementary School, where she followed her passion for working with children, helping them to be their best possible selves. She continued working until the late spring of 2022 when she had to receive a stint in the hospital due to a reaction to chemotherapy. Ultimately, she decided to retire in the summer and focus on her treatments and getting better full-time.

Throughout the summer and fall, Cindy continued to fight and beat cancer, showing the world just how brave she was.

In January of 2023, her family received the unfortunate news that cancer had spread to her brain. Cindy quickly underwent a week of radiation, completing it with her head held high. Despite her valiant efforts, her condition had unfortunately declined in recent weeks, and her boys had to face the difficult decision to let her go and free her from the pain.

Cindy's boys, Alex and Lucas, are both amazing boys who are currently attending college. Lucas is currently a part of the track team at Purdue Northwest in Indiana, majoring in fitness management, and is set to graduate in 2026. Alex is attending the University of Missouri, where he is majoring in marketing, and will graduate in December of 2023.

Cindy was an extraordinary woman but most importantly an amazing mother, a dedicated teacher, and a loving friend. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, courage, and selflessness. Her legacy will continue to inspire and live on through her boys, who loved her dearly.

Rest in Peace, Cindy Bass, you truly were an incredible woman and will be forever missed.

Any proceeds will be donated directly to Alex and Lucas to help pay for any current or future expenses.
