Hello, I am Barb Mertick’s sister and have started this Go Fund Me in order to raise money for Colin’s children.

- Obituary for Colin Robert Mertick

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Colin Robert Mertick, who left us too soon on October 2, 2024, at the age of 42 due to a tragic motorcycle accident. Colin was born on October 5, 1981, and lived a life full of passion and adventure.

Colin was a dedicated Process Operator at Pembina Pipeline Corporation in Corunna. He was not only a devoted father to his five children—Brayden, Julian, Ava, Katie, and Piper—but also a cherished son, brother, and friend. He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Kevin and Martina Mertick; his sisters, Natasha Wilson (Scott Wilson) and Cassie Mertick; his grandmother, Gerarda McFarlane; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, etc. Colin’s circle of friends was vast, many of whom felt more like family.

An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Colin had a flair for collecting unique treasures (aka “cool shit”)—buckles, hats, lighters, playing cards, and bikes. He was a true jack-of-all-trades, known for his exceptional baking skills and his ability to create mouthwatering BBQ delights. Colin's infectious spirit and love for life left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

He was predeceased by loved ones who will greet him on his final ride.

A celebration of Colin’s life will be held on October 20, 2024, at Lady Luck Riders MC, located at 3014 Michigan Line, Camlachie, Ontario N0N 1E0. Weather permitting, a memorial ride in his honour will take place, with kickstands up from under the Bluewater Bridge at 1:00 PM (meet at 12:00 PM). Those arriving by car are welcome to follow the bikes for the ride or are encouraged to arrive at Lady Luck Riders MC before 1:30 PM to greet the riders upon their return.**Family is encouraged to greet the riders upon their return.** Light snacks will be provided, followed by a small service at 2:15 PM. Donations will be graciously accepted to support Colin's children.

Colin will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his vibrant spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

Colin was devoted father of five tragically leaving behind Brayden 23, Julian 19, Ava 15, Katie 11 and Piper 9.

Colin's smiling face was easily recognized by many. Whether it be at the kids baseball games, soccer field or social gatherings all around Corunna and Sarnia. Colin is well known and loved by many. His presence filled a room effortlessly and the joy he naturally shared filled the hearts of everyone he met, bringing laughter and endless memories. His spirit was a force to be reckoned with and his laughter is everlasting.

The overwhelming outpour of love and support from the community has brought us to open this fund to help support Colin’s children who he loved and celebrated every single day.

Thank you to our community, friends and family for the outpouring kindness during this difficult time and memories shared in memory of Colin. All donations will be used to solely support the children and future education expenses. Thank you all for generous donations ❤️
