In Memory of David Jeon
Donation protected
With a heavy heart, I am creating this Go Fund Me for our friend and colleague David Jeon, who died unexpectedly following an aortic aneurysm on Monday, February 21rst. When we last said goodbye to David, it was with the certainty that we would see him again in a matter of hours. Instead, however, we were devastated to hear that David lost consciousness at home after a typical Sunday of running errands and spending time with his wife Keumok and son Alexander. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the attending physicians in the emergency room, David could not survive the damage to his heart and died hours after arriving.
We often spend more waking hours with our co-workers than our own family, and through this time, we glean insight into each other and create a unique, tight-knit group of individuals that make up a work family. As we reflect on our fourteen years of working alongside David, his strength, kindness, humility, and humor endeared him to so many. For example, he was often seen in the Department helping hang anything with his signature stance of jumping onto two slim arms of a chair and then moving the chair in a circle with his entire body. Anyone else would have climbed down from the chair, moved it, and then climbed back on. Not David. He was incredibly active and could tackle any task that required several people single-handedly. David enjoyed a good joke, riding his motorcycle, receiving an Amazon package, and countless other things. During his tenure at VITAS Healthcare, David received numerous awards as the Employee of the Year, Employee of the Quarter, Perfect Attendance, etc. David is truly a person who has brought "a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, their light remains."
The loves of David's life were his wife of nearly 30 years, Keumok and his son Alexander. We heard David speak about his wife with complete reverence and love. He was unconditionally proud of his son Alexander and often spoke of his hopes for his future. David was a longtime attendee of the Sarang Church of San Diego and spent many years supporting their youth groups. Sarang means "Love" in Korean. I cannot think of a more fitting way to remember David, who is held close to our hearts and surrounded by love.
Please note that all donations for this Go Fund Me will benefit Keumok and Alexander directly. All donations will assist in supporting them with the cost of losing someone so untimely and help them transition to a new reality without David's income. Please consider donating as any amount will genuinely help Keumok and Alexander during this difficult time. Please share this fundraiser with all friends and colleagues who know David.
Thank you.
