In Memory of Diamond and Her Children: Support Needed
Donation protected
We are deeply saddened by the loss of 3 loved ones. Chianti Means (Diamond) was a loving, joyful single mom of 2 (Roman & Mecca).
Diamond suffered from postpartum depression unbeknownst to her family and friends.
On Monday night, October 28th, 2024, my sister made a decision to take the lives of her and her children by jumping into the Niagara Falls. Born and raised in The Falls, where some of our family members' ashes have been spread, she was a known member in her community who loved her kids with all her heart.
Diamond was raised by her grandmother, who passed in 2020. Our grandmother’s passing was the hardest on her, but she remained cheerful to her family & friends. She threw Halloween parties for all the kids every year, gave free food to friends anytime she had leftovers, and planned trips with her son throughout the year.
After having her daughter Mecca and not having her father by her side, things became mentally overwhelming. Diamond held a Master's degree in Behavioral Health and Social Work. This tragic incident is still a shock to family and friends as she always uplifted others and encouraged them to spread love and kindness. We did not notice the signs.
The Means family will never be the same. I am one of few family members outside of NY and am asking for your support to help me be with my family during this difficult time.
Diamond was the oldest sibling of 4. Next is her brother Devonte, who is two years younger, followed by the twins (Anthony & Karisma). She was our big sister, our guidance, and our rock when life got tough for us. Her son Roman was the sweetest boy; he loved to game and play with friends, but most of all, he absolutely loved his family. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to meet my niece Mecca. I was hoping to surprise her this year for Halloween but decided financially it would be best to wait.
I was too late to save my sister, but I will live on to finish what she couldn’t and work towards an organization to help single mothers that will provide daily and overnight childcare as needed. Free counseling, daily meals for families, transportation, and much more to lighten a mother's load.
Diamond was my heart & I was her favorite person in the world next to her children. We had a disagreement before her passing & I never got the chance to apologize to her in person. I can never understand why she made the decision she did, but I pray every day that they are at peace. Spread love before it’s too late & make time for family gatherings every year.
Thank you for reading. ❤️
