In Memory of Diego Vasquez

We are sorry to share with our community that Diego Vasquez passed away over the weekend of October 12. Diego was an incredible son and brother to his family, as well as a great friend to many of us. We write this as a means of remembering Diego, and to start this gofundme to help support his family as they navigate this loss.

As a tutor for the AVID program, his sense of humor, honesty, passion for helping our AVID students, and dedication to making them better students and people is something our team will remember him for and continue to honor in his absence.

Diego was a graduate of Menlo-Atherton Class of 2021 and had great impact on many teachers during his time here, having been described by more than one of them as their “go-to-guy.”

While working as a tutor and mentor for AVID, Diego was attending San Jose State University, majoring in Psychology. He told us his ambition was to be a clinical psychologist. He was great at elevating our students, holding them accountable, and pushing them to continually become better versions of themselves. He has been described by several students as the big brother they never had.

We will hold Diego close in our hearts and cherish the memories we made with him. There will be a celebration of life scheduled in the future; more details will be added soon.
