In Memory of Don Casey
Don Casey was a loving father, husband and brother who lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, August 16th, 2020. Don is survived by his wife, Karen, and his son, Rob.
Unfortunately, this awful tragedy is not the only one that Karen and Rob have endured over the last few years. In 2017, Don and Karen’s daughter, Megan, had a stroke at the age of 30. Megan fought through stroke-related complications and injuries for 8 long months before passing away unexpectedly on January 13, 2018 during a routine surgery.
Shortly after Megan passed away, the family faced another heartbreak when Don was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer and given only a few months to live.
In the wake of Megan's untimely death and in the midst of their battle with Don's cancer, our family also lost our grandmother, Betty Sanders - Karen’s mother and Rob’s grandmother - on March 31, 2020.
Karen and her son Rob have done nothing but love and care for their sick family members over the last 3+ years, putting everyone else’s needs above their own. If you have had the good fortune of knowing these two, you would know that they have done it with a smile on their faces, all while asking if there was "anything they could do for you." They are the most selfless, joyful humans you could ever hope to know.
This family that we all know and love has suffered so much over such a short period of time. I am reaching out to you, our family and friends, in the hope that we can give back a little bit of what Karen and Rob have given to all of us. Rob is planning to build an addition on his home in Sparta so that his mother can live peacefully and worry-free with her dog Hunnie, alongside her son and future daughter-in-law, Emilie. Any money raised through this GoFundMe page will help support Rob and Uncle Ed with funeral costs for Don, as well as kick-start the process of building the addition for Karen.
