In Memory of Don Rayner
Tax deductible
On Friday, April 3rd 2020, husband, father and grandfather Don Rayner lost his short and hard fought battle with glioblastoma, surrounded by family in Renton, WA. He spent Feb and March in the hospital to exhaust all opportunities to extend his life, he was fortunate to be released in order to spend his final days at the home of his children.
Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, 3 children and spouses, 4 grandchildren, 1 brother + wife, step mother; and countless friends and neighbors, old and new.
Don spent a lifetime helping others; from coaching youth sports, Timberline High School football, serving on the local library board to blowing snow from the neighbor's driveways. Some of his children's earliest memories were following him around as he helped neighbor's to build their houses, get wood in for the winter and build front porches. He loved people and leaves behind many lifelong friends. Don derived great satisfaction from helping those around him and in the community.
Many have asked about a memorial and what they can do. We'll be looking to have a memorial service later in the year, and will send information as we're able to organize it.
With a long career in logging and forestry, Don was especially passionate about the local Logging Museum(J. Howard Bradbury Logging Museum, Pierce, ID), serving 20 years on their board, most recently as Treasurer. Even as his health declined, he was concerned about ensuring the museum was cared for while he had to be away. He truly enjoyed the museum, but mostly enjoyed working with everyone in the community, and the opportunities to connect.
If you are inclined to send a gift to honor Don's memory, we are asking you make a donation to the museum in his name in lieu of gifts and flowers. He would be proud to know he is having a lasting impact on the museum and it's contributions to the community he lived and worked in for so many years.
