In memory of Donald Hulme
Donation protected
On Tuesday, April 28, 2020 my father Donald Hulme, passed away. He was 83 and a resident of Heritage Village in Southbury, CT. He had been in a rehab facility when he contracted Covid-19. My father was selfless and kind to everyone he came into contact with. He also loved a good scotch and a great meal from the Fife 'n Drum in Kent, CT.
We had expected and anticipated his return home on the 28th. Sadly, he rapidly took a turn and passed on the day we planned for him to come home.
His death due to this horrible virus was unexpected and painful for us all. Just a few short months prior, he was in good health; independent, driving, enjoying time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
My father had no savings, he had no retirement assets, and no life insurance. He did not own a home. He was a veteran, having served as an officer in the Navy for 3 years, but hadn't been able to take advantage of his status so he will not be receiving support from the VA for funeral expenses. During my childhood my father had been a volunteer fireman at Candlewood Company in Brookfield, CT, and was Director of Market Research for multiple pharmaceutical companies.
His wife is 81 and had been caring for him and has been saddled with the cost of his cremation and medical expenses and she is struggling to pay them.
So many friends of his have reached out to us asking if there is anything they can do, and there is. Please contribute, if you can. No amount is too small, and all donations are appreciated.
With much love,
Allison Hulme, and family
