Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Benjason “Jason” Nunez
Dear friends, family, and loved ones,
It is with immense sorrow that we share the passing of Dr. Benjason Rodrigo Nunez—known to many as Jason, Kuya, or Boonz—on March 6, 2025. His sudden loss leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Jason was an adoring husband to his wife, Jeana, and a devoted father to their two beautiful children, Elle Yi Nunez and Benjamin Yi Nunez. He was the beloved son of Dr. Aida and the late Dr. Eusebio Nunez, a cherished brother to Scott Nunez (Jaymee), Dr. Marisa Nunez (Anthony DePompei), and Jea Young Yi, and a dear son-in-law to Jong and Mi Yi. Jason’s warmth extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extended family of friends, including his Barkada family and the Wolf Pack—his lifelong group of college friends.
A Life of Resilience, Passion, and Love
Jason’s journey was one of incredible resilience and unwavering dedication. He completed his undergraduate studies at Penn State University and went on to fulfill his dream of becoming a physician, graduating from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine—all while bravely battling and beating cancer twice during medical school. His passion for medicine was matched only by his deep compassion for others, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Outside of his medical career, Jason was full of life and deeply loved his Philadelphia sports teams—especially the Eagles, Phillies, and 76ers. He was overjoyed to witness the Eagles’ recent Super Bowl victory. He found joy in fantasy football, poker, Clash of Clans, and golf, and was a grill master always perfecting his steaks while hosting friends and family. He also had a great love for music, playing the ukulele alongside his siblings, and was a dedicated Taylor Swift fan. Jason’s adventurous spirit led him to travel the world, but no matter where he went, his heart was always with the people he loved.
Supporting His Family in This Difficult Time
Jason and Jeana recently celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary, a milestone filled with love and shared dreams for the future. His sudden passing has left his family with unexpected financial burdens, including funeral costs, medical expenses, and the ongoing support of Elle and Benjamin’s future education.
We are creating this GoFundMe to honor Jason’s legacy and provide support to Jeana and their children during this unimaginable time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease their burden and ensure that his family can focus on healing and remembering the incredible man he was.
Jason gave so much of himself to others, whether through his work, his friendships, or the love he poured into his family. Now, we have the chance to give back and carry forward his legacy of kindness, generosity, and love.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support, prayers, and love.
