In Memory of Erica: Support for Michael and Anastasia

Erica Alterio passed suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 14th, surrounded by her family. Her husband Michael said it best, so I'll let his words speak for himself. Please give what you can to help support Michael and their daughter Anastasia during this heartbreaking time.

"It is with profound sadness and immeasurable grief that I announce the passing of my beloved Erica. She had been through so much these last few years, but she took it in stride with a positive attitude and determination no matter how hard things got.

And I am a better person for knowing her, loving her, and for all of the memories we made together.

Although I wish my time with her had not been cut short, sometimes the universe has other plans, and although we may not understand it, we must do the best we can to have faith and trust there is a reason for it. And although I was only meant to love her for a short while, at least here on this Earth, no matter how far apart we are, wherever in the universe she may be now, I will always keep her memory close to my heart and will love her and miss her dearly.

I would like to thank Erica's parents, my sister-in-law Stephanie, and my brother-in-law Kevin, as well as her extended family for welcoming me and treating me like I am one of their own.

I would also like to thank the staff at the Newtown EMS and the Danbury Hospital who worked so hard to try and save her life.

My heart is shattered into a million pieces, but I know I need to stay strong for our little girl who I love so dearly.

I will never let her forget who her Mommy was, and the impact she had on everyone around her."
