In memory of "Geordie Pete", Cropredy
Donation protected
In August 2022, Peter Richards, aka Geordie Pete, was diagnosed with advanced Pancreatic Cancer, which had metastasised widely. It was very likely that Pete would be taken quickly by the disease and on the 6th of September 2022, Pete died peacefully at home with his son Alfie by his side.
Many loved Pete because of his affiliations to Fairport's Cropredy Convention and the Brasenose Fringe. He was a funny man and made many, many friends over the years.
Pete's funeral service has been arranged to take place at Banbury Crematorium on Friday 7th October at 3.00pm.
We are aware that Pete was very much loved locally and across the country, and the crematorium capacity is limited. Should anyone wish to watch the service via live stream, please contact [email redacted].uk and a login can be provided.
Requests for logins through Facebook will not be responded to.
There will also be a further chance to celebrate Pete's life at The Brasenose in Cropredy following the service. A place very dear to Pete and one of the places he worked.
The Brasenose will be open from 4.30pm and no earlier due to many of the staff wishing to attend the funeral service.
As can be imagined, Alfie, a 20-year-old, has been left to deal with everything, and this task of organising a funeral and a life without his father, is a mountain to climb. He works part-time at Cropredy Primary School. He is receiving support from family and close friends.
Still, unexpected costs are to be met, with the Funeral and Memorial expected to attract over 500 people from all corners of the UK. Alfie needs some financial respite to support him in his grief and would eventually like to learn to drive to widen his horizons.
Please will you help Alfie?
There will also be an opportunity to make a donation in Pete's memory at his funeral service, by post c/o: Edd Frost & Daughters Family Funeral Directors, 14 Canada Close, Banbury OX16 2RT or via this page.
