In Memory of Hiram Flores: Support His Family
Donation protected
It is with the absolute heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of my father, Hiram Flores. As with any loss, whether it be an expected or an unexpected one, we are absolutely devastated to our core and our hearts have been completely shattered.
My dad Hiram fought the most courageous battle for over 3 years, after being diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2021 after a trip to the emergency room. Throughout these past 3 years, we’ve watched him handle his diagnosis, treatments and each appointment with more grace than any one person can comprehend.
At his core, my dad is a person that never wants to inconvenience anyone. He never wants anyone to have to go out of their way for him. I know for a fact he would be hesitant in agreeing to me creating this fundraiser on his behalf because he is the most selfless human being I have ever met. Because Christmas is nearing… I can hear him say, “No it’s ok mija, don’t worry hun. We’ll figure it out.” He’s the type of person to do anything he can to make someone feel important, appreciated and most of all, loved.
My dad has always been that ray of sunshine on our darkest days. He has been an inspiration to us all throughout his battle with colon cancer. Unfortunately, he was hospitalized on Wednesday, November 27th, and on Friday, November 29th, which is also his Birthday, he received what felt like earth-shattering news that there is nothing more that can be done, and in turn the hospital suggested Hospice.
Both of my parents have had their share of trials and tribulations. My mom lost both of her parents at the age of 31, after they were murdered in 2001. She has lost two siblings since then, and throughout these losses, my dad has always been there for all of us, standing strong in his faith and reminding us that we have each other to lean on, as family means everything. My mom has now lost her husband, best friend, soulmate and other half. She has been his primary care taker, working two jobs or more and sacrificing time with him to make sure they were always taken care of and he had everything he needed. My hope is that we can all come together and lift some of the financial burden we face as my mom will have to bury her husband far too soon.
As a family we are overwhelmed with sadness and we all feel a tremendous amount of grief. Each of us are doing the best we can to be strong for each other as we navigate through this trying time, echoing the sentiments that my dad holds near and dear: Be faithful, be present, be supportive and be with each other, always.
I, on behalf of my mom and dad am asking for support to help cover funeral and burial costs, to alleviate the burden for my mom so she can focus on grieving the loss of the love of her life. Any remaining funds will go directly to her to help with any additional expenses. We understand that Christmas is one week away, and times are tough for everyone, with that being said, we can all use your prayers more than any denomination you could give. My dad would love the prayers more than anything. So, I ask that you please pray for my family, and send us lots of strength, because we’re going to need it. He was an amazing person, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend. Hiram Flores was an angel on earth and he will be missed more than words can say.
I thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this, I appreciate your prayers and support and for your generosity. My family and I are grateful for any help that you could provide in order to honor his memory and beautiful spirit. I hope you all enjoy your holiday season with your friends and family. Be with those who matter most and create memories because one day that’s all you’ll have. God Bless ❤️
