In Memory of James "Jimmy" Medrano
Donation protected
On the night of Saturday, November 19th, James "Fire" Gregory Medrano was shot and killed at his local skatepark in Norwalk, CA. Jimmy, a nickname he was known for by his closest friends and family, went to this skate park daily. Jimmy had just turned 26 and was a vital part to the Norwalk skatepark community. He played the "big brother" role to the younger kids there and would often try and keep them out of trouble and out of harm's way. He was an avid painter and would often provide materials to those who wished to exercise their skill. His care for others was demonstrated not only through his actions, but also through his words. He always told people leaving the skatepark to "look both ways" to ensure their safety on their way home. He did this in fear of losing another friend--a tragic experienced he faced a few years back. Jimmy was passionate about everything that he believed in. He was a brave person and it saddens us to lose him.
Our hearts go out to his family, especially his grandparents whom he lived with. Jimmy was family-oriented and cared very much about his grandparents and family. We are seeking any donation to help his family with funeral costs. 100% of these donations will go directly to the memorial cost and to his family. Thank you for your support during this time and please feel free to share any stories of Jimmy below.
Additionally, the skatepark where he was murdered is now at risk of being close down due to Jimmy's incident. To see the skatepark, which he called his "backyard," taken away from those who cherish it the most would be devastating. Here is the link for a petition to keep the skatepark open:
