In Memory of James Kevin Dougherty

Donation protected
In loving memory of James Kevin Dougherty who was  taken from his family and friends so soon in life.

Jackie lost her husband and oldest son in the matter of months and Kelly lost his father and big brother in those same months.

Let's help this family ease some of the pain by helping with some of the huge financial burdens that were thrust upon them so quickly and unexpectedly.

All proceeds will go directly to Kevin's loving mother ( Jackie ) and brother ( Kelly ).

Words can never describe what Kevin meant to each and everyone of us, however his mom summed his life up for us so perfectly. Here is a letter written by his mother.

A letter to my son James Kevin:

Kevin I could say so much about what a man you have become. But let’s go back to when you were born. August 31, 1971, in St Francis Hospital. You came out screaming and never stopped. We went home, you with colic. You kept crying day and night. Almost till you were 2. Dr. said you were spoiled and let you cry. And she was right.

Age two. You had your tonsils out. Came home and ate waffles at the neighbors. Recovery was quick. You stuck a bobby pin in an electrical socket burning your fingers. Trip to the hospital. You were taking a nap one day and while you were jumping up and down on the bed you went backwards out the window. You fractured your skull and spent two weeks in the hospital. Your Dr. said you had nine lives.

When you were in grade school, we had several conferences as you just couldn’t stop talking. When Kelly started school, they couldn’t believe you were brothers, one never said a word and the other never stopped.

Your Dad bought you two boys 4 wheelers. Thought you were only riding when we were home. Yeah right. Down the street through the woods and over to the 7-11.

You had a lot of adventures through your teen years. You worked two jobs in high school, saved money and you and Lisa Kidwell went on a cruise.

After graduation you went to work for Discover. You took a job with their new facility in Phoenix Arizona. We packed you up, towed your car, got you an apartment, shopped for all your necessities in one week, only to have you come back home in 3 months leaving everything out there.

From there to Philadelphia for awhile. Lived in Maryland for a while leaving everything there as well.  Then to Nashville working at the Opryland hotel with Jim Delaney.

Came back to Philadelphia. Said you would rather live in a tent than come back home. I know you were only kidding. You worked at Silk City, Bob and Barbara’s, Sugar Moms, and Ortliebs, Jet, Vino Volo.  You made so many friends in your travels.

You had a really bad car accident. Again, you pulled through. You had a bout with cancer, underwent chemo and radiation and you beat it. You came home to recuperate.

You worked at Blackstones helping to open it. You stayed home (ha ha) to help with Dad and myself. You started in banking again with Bank of America making a lot of new friends. You loved the pool and were waiting to get it up and running again. You planted a garden this year and it’s doing quite well.  You enjoyed our week at Bethany every year, inviting friends to come down and enjoy. You, your brother and Brian gave Dad and myself a wonderful anniversary party, sending us to Las Vegas. You and Kelly were our caretaker. Taking Dad in and out of the rehab before he passed away. You were a rock for me when Dad passed away. You helped me get through my surgery, learning all about what it took to take care of me.

Kelly said you were a caring person, always putting others first. Kev will be sorely missed and life will not be the same without him.

Brandon said I miss you so much. Thanking you Kevin for being an amazing uncle and helping to raise him. He whispered to you in the hospital, Sorry Uncle Kev for all the times I pissed you off.

Kevin, we love you and miss you so much. Kelly’s right. Life will never be the same.

Love, Mom
