Tomorrow will be a year since my incredible Mam sadly passed away. Everyday is a struggle as I long to see her standing in the kitchen waiting to greet me with a smile and comforting hug.
My Mam was a nurse for forty years on A&E at the QEH. She devoted her entire life to others. Professionally and personally. She tried to make areas on the ED as calm and comforting as she could. The relatives room and meadows corner. She researched paint colours for patients with dementia. She wanted to make the patients and their families experience as comfortable as it could be. She really is a Saint.
In memory of my Mam I am fundraising to buy items for a quiet room for Sacred Heart Byermoor Primary School. This will not only benefit children with SEN who can regulate when overwhelmed but every pupil who may need take a moment when needed. Creating a space similarly to how she had for countless people in hospital and at her home. The pupils have been incredibly kind and supportive to Darcie and Emilia.
We hope with monies raised we can buy seating such as a soft play sofa or beanbags, lighting, sensory items and books
