In Memory of Joe Bunnell

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of an amazing individual who left this earth much too soon. Joe Bunnell passed away Monday, March 23rd from a fatal accident while working alone on a friend’s property in Litchfield, Connecticut.
Everyone who knows Joe, knows that he is a hardworking, dedicated, and genuine man that would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Not only did he work two jobs, but he also always made the time to help his family run Bunnell Farm in Litchfield whether it be cutting the annual corn maze or helping prepare turkeys for Thanksgiving. If Joe wasn’t hard at work you could find him at Community Field where he has spent the past 15 summers playing for the Tri-Town Trojans. He was an outstanding teammate and the best defensive 1st baseman in the league. His free time was spent with his devoted girlfriend and love of 10 years, Brittany Houle. They enjoyed floating away hot summers on Bantam Lake, hosting bonfires at their Morris home, and babysitting their many nieces and nephews. Joe was always up for anything and cherished time with family and friends. His infectious smile and caring attitude made Joe someone you always wanted to be around.
Joe was a family man and if he could request one wish, I know it would be to take care of his family now that he can no longer. He comes from two deep rooted families in the local community, the Bunnells and the Ruwets, who have provided the towns of Litchfield and Torrington with love and support for generations. It is time for us to return the favor during this period of loss and mourning. We would like to raise money for the Bunnell family to help take care of any hospital bills and end of life services for Joe. We also want to relieve any financial burdens from shared expenses Brittany had with Joe so she can grieve without worry after this tragedy. We ask that you help us honor Joe and his memory by supporting his loved ones in a time of need as he would do for any one of us.
My name is Landon Gardella and had the honor of calling Joe one of my great friends. We've played together for the Trojans for the past 12 years and he was going to stand by my side as I got married this August. Joe was always there for me when I needed a hand and was always sincere in his willingness to be there for a friend or family. He was a humble man that appreciated the little things in life and I am better for knowing him. I want Joe to know that I will always be here for Brittany and his family so he can rest peacefully knowing they have our love and support. Thank you.
