In Memory of John Barrett

I originally met John Barrett (pictured on the far right) through Exchange for Change, an organization that provides a variety of writing classes to incarcerated people in the South Florida area. I was a songwriting teacher and he was my student. By the time I moved away from Miami, the roles had reversed. I am lucky to be able to carry his lessons with me and share them with you today. Here are a few of my favorites:

- Laughter is powerful (and even more so if it happens at an inappropriate time).
- Anything is achievable through hard work. 
- ACDC tickets used to be way less expensive. 
- No matter a person's circumstances, it is possible to create a wonderful and fulfilling life through friendship and music.
