In Memory of John Burnett, our Pops&Dad

Some of my family and I will be running 10k in September as well as I will be running the North Bristol Half Marathon in April 2025 in the loving memory of our Pops and Dad, John Burnett.

In November 2023 our Pops/Dad was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour, we were told that it was aggressive and he would have 2-6 months. He started radiotherapy in January which was difficult but never got him down. He wanted to live in the moment and not let his cancer take away the amazing life he was leading, he was so positive, resilient and determined. After 5 months of fighting as hard as he could he sadly passed away on the 11th of May 24. Anyone who knows my family understands that he was our everything and words will never describe how loved and admired he was, as well as how many people’s lives he left a mark on. He truly was everything we all aspire to be.

However, without charities like St Peter’s we wouldn’t have been able to give him the love, care, and comfort that he deserved near the end of his life.

We all worked so hard as a family, reflecting all the strength our Pops&Nan/Dad&Mum always instilled in us. None of us would be where we are without their constant love and support, so now it’s our turn to support our Nan/Mum and show our Pops/Dad that light can always be found in the dark and that grief is born out of the greatest of loves.

We want to raise awareness and support this amazing charity, any donation will be hugely appreciated.

More information about St. Peter's Hospice: St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's Hospice, caring for people in the local area who are living with incurable cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Last year they cared for over 2,000 local people and their families. All the services are provided completely free of charge and they rely on donations and legacies from the local community to help to continue providing specialised care to those who need it.
