In Memory of Joshua Fuqua: Family Support

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Joshua Fuqua. His close friends better knew him by "Fuqua". He had an electric personality that would light up a room and make people immediately laugh and smile. His presence touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Josh was a M.Ed. Candidate at UCLA Graduate School of Education working to become a Teacher in Los Angeles. He Graduated UCLA in 2022 with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Education. The year after he graduated he Spent working for City Year Los Angeles. Here he worked as a student success coach to support students with holistic academic support in ELA and math. He was proud of the fact that he was able to serve 50 hours a week for his students. He had a passion for bridging the gap between quality, equitable education, and under-resourced schools. He strived to give underprivileged youth a better and more hopeful future.

In his free time Josh enjoyed skating, snowboarding in Mammoth and Big Bear-hitting the terrain park, making mix tapes with his friends, art, videogames and tattoos among others.

My heart goes out to his family and his friends that were like brothers to him.

Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated to help support his family in this extremely devastating time. The money will go to funeral and memorial services, as well as supporting his family and siblings in any way they see fit.

He was much to young to leave us this early. I know he will never be forgotten and would want us to live our lives to the fullest just as he did. <3
