In Memory of Local 597 Pipefitter Cynthia Schmidt

It is with profound sadness that I am writing to inform you that Cynthia (Cindy) Schmidt passed away suddenly on Monday, August 24th while working in Lansing, Michigan.
Cindy was a proud member of Pipefitters Local Union #597 of Chicago for over thirty six years. Cindy excelled in her career as a quality control and assurance manager. Having worked with Cindy on several projects over the years, I have witnessed firsthand her dedication to her trade. Cindy was not simply good at what she did, she was one of the very best. She exemplified the spirit and work ethic that set a standard for all around her to follow. Her spirit is what defined her. Cindy was respected, revered and loved as a friend to the many tradespeople that shared the field on the countless hours of construction projects that she helped supervise across the country.
Cindy was a wonderful Mother, Sister, Daughter and Friend to all that have known her. The outpouring of sympathy and well wishes have been overwhelming, with most recounting stories of good times and all the special memories that so many have made alongside of her.
With expenses being what they are today, and so many people being impacted by the current pandemic, her many friends, colleagues and coworkers have asked how they can help the family. I have put this fundraiser together to allow those that care to help to make a contribution in Cindy's memory to aid her Son Larz, Brother Michael and Sister Nancy with the necessary expenses that will be required to aid them at this time of sorrow as they grieve the loss of such a wonderful soul. All proceeds will go to the family, and I can offer to you on their behalf their heartfelt appreciation for anything you can do to help and thank you for the love and friendship you have given to Cindy. Please keep her memory in your heart and her family in your prayers at this sad time.
