In Memory of LuLu Roman

LuLu Roman. There are some names that, when you hear them, take you back immediately to a moment in time. The name LuLu Roman does that for so many people. They instantly think of the long-running television show, "Hee Haw" and people begin to remember how much they loved watching it. Others will remember LuLu more for her beautiful singing voice and ministry. Then, there are some who will immediately remember much more personal moments, not just of shared laughter, but of griefs, pains, surgery vigils, and the many other kinds of moments and milestones that friends and family share.

My name is Rhonda Hanson and LuLu Roman and I have been best friends for well over thirty years. The thing about that is that many of you who are reading this can make that same claim.

Everyone who loved her, and who she loved, felt "best". Best friends. LuLu made so many of us feel that we were ranked as "best". She had that gift and, for someone who spent her childhood and teen years in an orphanage, her life was filled with an abundance of friends.

No one wants get the phone call that someone you love as much as I loved LuLu has passed away. When her son, Damon, called me, it was within minutes of her passing and his heart was, and still is, broken.

This is a difficult time, one filled with uncertainties, and tasks that must be done, decisions that must be made, and expenses that must be met.

I am asking, on behalf of LuLu's son, Damon, and those who are working closely with him in this effort to memorialize this wonderful woman, to please consider contributing anything you can toward alleviating some of the financial strain that only serves to add an additional layer of stress to grief and anxiety.

Your help is greatly appreciated. So many of you were so kind and generous to help when LuLu's youngest son, Justin, was taken so unexpectedly, and LuLu was overwhelmed by your show of love and support.

That same love and support will be so appreciated by her last remaining son, Damon, who is now faced with obligations that are not within his means.
