In Memory of Lynn Maher
Donation protected
My mother, Lenna Marie Maher (Cunningham), passed on January 23, 2021, after a very long battle with polycystic kidney disease. My mother was selfless. She strove to provide the very best life possible for my brother, Ryan, who was born with developmental disabilities. She fought for his inclusion in education and in society. She taught me that not everyone has an advocate and that is necessary to provide comfort to those who can not stand on their own. We must lend a voice to those whose needs sometimes go unheard.
As a small child, Ryan benefitted greatly from the services and education provided by The Childhood League Center in Columbus, Ohio. I know that my mother found solace in the knowledge that here, Ryan was welcome, he was included as an equal, and that the staff believed as she did, that her son would have a positive future.
I remember one particular occasion when my mother and I arrived early to pick Ryan up from pre-school. As we stood in one of the observation rooms, she watched the children learn and play together free of judgment, as their whole selves, and as our God indented them to be. She was humbled to witness the children experience the sanctuary of knowing they are loved.
In memory of my mother, I ask you to join me in supporting The Childhood League Center https://www.childhoodleague.org/who-we-are/ After reaching out to the administration, I've been informed that together, we have the opportunity to help continue their mission of advocacy in the following ways.
Pavers - Small ($1,200), Large ($2,000)
Wooden Bench ($5,000)
Classroom Observation Nook ($10,000)
Granite Bench ($15,000)
These options will allow us to inscribe my mother's name and message. I believe my mother would have a simple message to all those who enter the Center. "You are loved".
I love you, Mom.
