In memory of Ma Kaing, organized by Hope

On July 15, 2022, Ma Kaing, a devoted mother of four, wife, small business owner, community leader, and wonderful neighbor, was shot and killed by random gunfire from an automatic weapon across the street from her home. She was senselessly shot while participating in a very normal activity - unloading groceries with her children. This horrible event was one more act of violence in the East Colfax community.

We have been pleading for increased police presence in the community for years, to no avail. The violence has escalated and is not confined to gang members and criminals - it is hurting all the individuals and families that live in the neighborhood. Ma was a pillar of strength and a hero to her children, and now she is gone.

We cannot erase the pain this terrible tragedy has caused, but we can help to alleviate some distress by raising funds to pay for a memorial and immediate living expenses for the family. Please help as you can. 100% of the donations will go to the family.
