In Memory of Marc Anthony Butcher
Donation protected
My name is Todd, and I am a nephew of Marc Butcher. Many of you knew Marc personally, or from his books and poetry as ”Marc Anthony”, “M. A. Butcher”, or “Poet Butcher”. On December 24th our family was informed that Uncle Marc passed away. He was found deceased in his apartment, having been there for some time. Our family finds comfort knowing that Marc passed suddenly of natural causes.
Marc was born on July 4, 1950, in New York City, New York, to Vivian (Jones) and Ivan Butcher. He is survived by his brother Ivan Butcher II, sister Karen Austin, family members around the world, and the Jewish community. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Ivan, and by his wife, Cheryl Debarros.
Marc was a published author, artist, producer, songwriter, and poet. Some of his written works were: “Positive Messages for young men growing up without their fathers”, “BEFORE THE DIVORCE READ THIS!”, and “AFTER THE HEARTBREAK, JUST LISTEN!”. His poetry collections included “Whispered Words”, and the “White Orchid Women’s Series”.
Marc was known for his dedication to the Jewish faith and belonged to the Yah In Me Congregation. He was also known to keep his youthful agility and found joy roller skating with the Brooklyn Skates Club/BKLYN Skates.
This page has been created to honor my Uncle Marc and help my mom, Karen afford to memorialize and lay his remains to rest at the ancestral home of their mother, Vivian, in Appomattox, Virginia.
We are asking for your financial support and contribution because frankly, is it not known Marc had savings that would cover his untimely passing. My mother Karen is the Next of Kin, and I am supporting her by organizing this GoFundMe on her behalf. We are now responsible Marc’s funeral and burial arrangements and will manage handling his belongings from his apartment in Brooklyn. We also need support covering costs for cleaning and transportation expenses. I live in Minnesota and my mom lives in Virginia. We expect to make a least a couple of trips to New York to settle Marc’s affairs. Any amount of contribution will go a long way and will be greatly appreciated.
Tap “Donate” to contribute, and please help us “Share” this GoFundMe with your network. Again, our family is grateful and appreciates your support!
Please reach out with any questions. I will do my best to answer them.
