A Real Life Tragedy
A Wife, Mother, Best Friend and The Love Of My Life
Marie Fe’s or Fe as her family and friends called her, was born in Cebu Philippines 38 years ago and longed to join her sister and her family in the United States. Eleven years ago she realized her dream and moved to the States. And a year later I was lucky enough to make my best friend my wife.
We had two beautiful children Kayla now 8 and Kyle 6 were the two things that fulfilled her dream. A happy family with a story that ends in this tragedy.
On January 20th a day that started like any other the children went to school, not realizing that their mother had reached a fatal point of despair. You see Fe had been the victim of Cyber-Bullying because she worked and had recently leased a new car, something in her culture that was unacceptable, she (in her contemporaries opinion) should have been a 1950’s house wife without aspirations of contributing to the family’s success. The posts on social media and phone calls would be so demeaning that she would often find herself crying for reasons that she internalized, had I only known.
Upon returning from school, I dropped them at the door like any other day, they scurried into the house only to find their mother in the back office deceased, she sadly had taken her own life.
I’m now a single parent living in a home that the children are afraid to enter, with furniture that she used to commit her suicide and nowhere to go.
I can work part time from home thanks to my generous employer, however part time work brings part time wages. I’m now faced with trying to replace the furniture and feed my children without the resources to do so, if I don’t make changes soon I’m afraid that my children will be further scarred for life.
In this horrific year of COVID-19 where so many people have lost so much, I ask that if you can to pay it forward and hope that no one ever has to live what was suppose to be a dream, turn into this nightmare.
