In Loving Memory & Support Of Marvin Watkins
Donation protected
As a proud member of The Priority Records Family, please join me in extending our love and support to The Watkins Family, in honor of our dearest Marvin, the God-fearing family man who for decades played an integral role on the front-line as a General, seeing to it that the West Coast Rap Music Industry became "one".
Over two decades ago an individual of very few words named Marvin, walked into Priority Records, who’d be introduced as my new boss. Within a short span of time, I was dubbed as “Marleezy” his right hand and gatekeeper, and he became “Marveezy”, everyone’s father-uncle-brother figure, who was always calm and never raised his voice. Yet, the type you never wanted to disappoint or get in trouble by (smile). Until this day, I can still hear his voice when he’d playfully call my name several times in a row to grind my nerves, knowing I’d be busy. It now makes my heart smile, as it was that cadence which signified his contentment, and let me know everything was alright.
Loyal and compassionate by default, Marvin remained "the go-to person" for co-workers, artists and friends alike, while championing the responsibility like a pro, never hesitating to facilitate the needs of another. He took being a husband, father, his position, integrity and work, very seriously, although I’d often tease about having his computer removed since he rarely touched it (smile). Nevertheless, Marvin fulfilled commitments like a true leader, and remained naturally dedicated to ALL tasks at hand unlike anyone I’d ever seen. He held a high degree of pride for the Priority brand, along with endless love and respect for Bryan Turner, Andrew Shack and anyone he'd personally assume responsibility for.
Although Marvin was mainly known to be very specific, neat, straight-to-the-point and somewhat stoic around the office, he maintained an epic sense of humor and always loved a great laugh which you’d hear during casual visits in our area, when perhaps Shellie, Mike Cole, Dawn, Mike Regen, Kiesha, Angie R, Arlene, Rikki, Angela M, Big Wes, Robert Redd, Howard D, Dani, Leah, Dana, Kimberly, LaVonna, Diana, Soni, Kelly, Rod, Byze, Richie, Kevin, Tremaine, Donna, Lupe or Shaunie would stop by. In essence, Marvin cherished the bond and synchronicity of the Priority family, and remained adamant that Talin, Garnett, Tim, Dave, Duffy, Brian S, Howard S, Craig, Sheila, Ozzie, Tamara, Art, Jim Earl and everyone else, had exactly what was needed to bring our projects to life and make success a reality.
As we all continue to wrap our thoughts around Marvin being called home way too soon, may we find solace in knowing God has an even Greater Purpose for him now, since his job was well done, and efficiently, in the time and space we were so blessed to meet, know and love him.
May God’s Grace, Peace, Strength, Protection, and Blessings cover Mary, Lil’ Marv and Marquis like never before, and your monetary gifts give them resounding comfort and reassurance in knowing that both Marvin and they, are loved, by an extended family who is here to assist however we can.
Let us all find peace and a smile, knowing Marvin is watching over everyone – seeing to it that we are healthy, safe, happy, doing what we’re called to do, and that everything remains on point -- as he is so famously known for.
Rest In Power Marvin “Marveezy” Watkins, Our General! We will love and lift you up always…
