In Memory of Matthew Espiritu

My best friend, Matthew Espiritu, unexpectedly passed away from cardiac arrest on Tuesday, October 17 at the young age of 25. He was only months away from starting his new job as a systems engineer to pursue his passion in aerospace and to support himself and his single mother. All funds from this campaign will be used to assist with funeral expenses and support his mother.

Matthew was one of the smartest and most kind hearted people I knew. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Aerospace at Embry Riddle. He was so passionate about everything that he did. From avionics software to playing instruments to video games, he gave everything he could. His character and kindness shows clearly in the communities that he created and surrounded himself in, both online and offline. He was a streamer, content creator, musician, engineer, best friend, and a loving son. Everyone that knew Matthew saw the incredible heart he had.

Having graduated during the pandemic, Matthew struggled to start his career. He submitted hundreds of job applications with no results. His family was already struggling financially and this just added another hardship on top. When Matthew finally received his job offer, he was so excited to finally start the career he was dreaming of.

Weeks before his passing, Matthew spoke to his mom, optimistic about his new found role to start his career. He talked about how things would soon be better for the both of them and how he would work his hardest to get themselves financially stable. Matthew only wanted to do the best he could for the people that he loved. His dog Piper continues to wait by his door everyday, waiting for him to come back. We are heartbroken by the timing of his passing. He was so close to achieving his dreams.
