In Memory of Maureen ‘Mara’ Featherston
Donation protected
We are saddened by the sudden passing of our Mom on 2/7/2022. While we so wish that we could have had more time with her to continue being involved in her Grandkids lives - she went peacefully and spent the last few days of her life pain-free and spending time in her garden. Gardening, along with anything dog related, was how she most enjoyed spending her time when she was not visiting with our families.
Maureen (or ‘Mara’ as she decided to go by in her later years!) had many passions in life. And Travel was by far at the top of the list. When her mobility declined and she could no longer explore far-off countries, she turned her efforts towards dog care and finding new non-profits to support.
We plan to have a “Celebration of Life” dinner in the coming weeks. But if you can’t attend, want to contribute to her passions, or in lieu of gifts/flowers - we will kindly accept donations from this campaign and donate to 2 charities in her name.
Guide Dogs For The Blind
Our Mom fostered a golden retriever named Lola and trained her to be a service dog for a disabled woman who lives in Maine. This was by far one of her most rewarding and difficult projects she took on!
Alamo Women’s Club
This is an organization that she recently started to support which focuses on Community and Philanthropy. She had only been a member for a few months but had already made quite an impression in reading through some of her emails!
Thank you for all the kind words,
Ryan, Aly, our Rocks Lisa and James, and our kiddos Logan, Liam, Madison, Nick, and Austin
