Alexa and Mike Portillo, the perfect love story, the kind most people only dream about, recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. If you spent any time with the newlyweds, you often times witnessed the affection they ignite for one another and the enthusiasm they shared for spending the rest of their lives together.
On Thursday, June 29, 2017, everything changed in an instant. Twenty-six year old Mike was killed while traveling east on the entrance ramp to I-10 at Pine Forest Road. His truck began to rotate, traveling into the wood line and ultimately coming to a halt by striking a tree on the drivers side.
If you met Mike, you did not forget him! His personality and energy stood out amongst everyone. Whether Mike was working or playing, he always gave it his best, with a smile and hard work. Kids of all ages adored Mike, his energy and positive attitude were contagious.
Alexa, now a young widow, and the rest of the family, have suffered a terrible loss. Unprepared for the untimely death of a young, vibrant and healthy 26 year old, a memorial has been set up in memory of Mike. The memorial will help off-set costs the family will endure with funeral expenses and other fees. The family requests, if you’re able, any amount donated will help ease the financial burdens associated with this tragedy, allowing Alexa time to cope and begin the healing for the loss of her true love.
