In Memory of Nabil Abujbara: Funeral Assistance
Donation protected
It is utterly heartbreaking to announce the passing of our father, Nabil Abujbara, on December 18, 2024 at the age of 67. Our dad was our best friend, the kindest person we’ve ever known. A man who had every reason to be bitter and hard, but insisted on remaining soft and urging us to do the same. What a beautiful man he was. The best comedic timing, the nuance of his wit, the brilliance of his mind, the gentleness of his heart. A true Hakawati, ensuring we always knew our history, what he lived through, where and who we came from. There’s not a single person that walked away from meeting our dad without a smile on their face and a story to tell. I cannot find the right words for the love our dad exuded.
Thank you for the outpouring of love, we have been wrapped in the warmth of those who shared memories with our baba. He had been between hospitals and nursing homes since July. Just a few days ago, he took his first few steps on his own, has had his appetite back for a month, and was being told by everyone that he will be back home in January, just in time for his birthday. Our only consolation is that he passed in his sleep - just like he'd hoped to go.
We will be holding the Janazeh prayer, burial, and reception for condolences on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Details are in the post.
This came as a shock to us, and we are unprepared for what comes next. If you would like to assist with funeral costs, we have set up a gofundme to help make burial arrangements, as well as make a donation to honor his memory.
