In Memory of Nio Subaran: A Brother To All

Donation protected
I never thought I'd have to set up a "Go Fund Me" account for a family member's passing, but here we are asking you out there for some help.
----------------------------

Last Saturday, December 22nd, my cousin, Niolito (Nio) Hilo Subaran died calmly and peacefully in his sleep as he fought to recover from complications during surgery to remove a brain tumor. He was only 40 years old.

We are all deeply saddened and still in disbelief that we won't get to see him grow further in life as a husband, a son, a cousin, an uncle and, to many including myself, see him as a brother. Nio was a very gifted and hard-working visual artist and his work has spanned across various media platforms worldwide and also close to home. He drew and animated for the love of the craft and struggled to earn just enough money to still affort to live here in Seattle. Mostly, he realized the impact he had to a broad audience who, to this day, applaud his skills and technique and how he shared and demonstrated it to everyone.

He leaves behind his wonderful wife, Evelyn, and his resilient mom, Herminia Subaran. He was the only child. This has been a very difficult time for both of them.

An art exhibition and gallery-open filled with his work is just one idea to begin and honor his life. But first things first: Plans for his memorial/funeral are underway and all the necessary steps and paperwork that go along that is all new territory with Evelyn. Not only is she faced with all of this, she has to do her best to fulfill Nio's wishes and we are helping her as much as we can.

So, we are trying to raise as much money as we're able to help with:

-Funeral Home costs and services .
-Financial assistance for Evelyn to help her with bills, rent, etc.
-Final Burial
-Legal and Attorney Fees

We are hoping to have these funds available within the next couple of days and I will be responsible for transferring the funds to their appropriate accounts.

Thank you all for your time and understanding during this very difficult time for me and my family.
