In Memory of Pastor Donatus Igbo aka "Teacher"

My dear mentor and pastor, Donatus Igbo, was killed in a tragic car accident on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Pastor Donatus was indeed a servant at heart and deeply loved God and people – he mentored me in my walk with God for over 35 years, from my time in Nigeria until the present. His family and close friends (myself included) fondly called him “Teacher” because he was a wonderful mentor and always had an encouraging, instructive word to strengthen you in whatever you were going through.

Pastor Donatus had been in ministry for almost 40 years, and he served as full-time pastor in Christ Apostolic Church located in Amike Obimbieri District in Wetheral DCC Owerri (Imo State, Nigeria).

He died how he lived – in service to God. He and several other pastors were en route to a pastor conference held in Ikeji Arakeji in Osun State, Nigeria, when they were involved in a multiple car crash that killed him and seven other pastors. Our hearts ache over his death.

He is survived by Keren, his loving wife of over 30 years of marriage (pictured in the profile picture with Donatus) and his six children - Ozioma, Shalom, Chinasa, Deborah, Emmanuel, and Prosper. Pastor Donatus was the sole breadwinner for his family, and his death has caused a tremendous financial strain for them. Ozioma and Chinasa were attending university in Nigeria but will not be able to continue due to the financial loss caused by their father’s death. Additionally, his oldest son, Shalom, was hit by a car in early October and broke his leg. Thankfully, he is alive but still in the hospital. We pray that he will recover and regain full use of his legs.
