Donation protected
Paul Edward Hlavacs was born on July 24, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio, the first-born child of Mary and Paul Vincent Hlavacs. He grew up in the Buckeye Road neighborhood alongside sister, Nancy and brothers, George and Raymond. He graduated from Benedictine High School and studied for a short time at John Carroll University. He attained the rank of sergeant in the Army’s 1st Cavalry division, stationed in Korea. After an honorable discharge, Paul entered the workforce as a mechanic and enjoyed building race-cars during America’s Hot Rod era.
He met the love of his life, Linda, during a visit to service Xerox machines at Republic Steel where she worked as a supervisor. They were married on July 5, 1969 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church and remained faithful for the following 55years 4months & 14days, together raising their 3 sons, Edward, John and James in their Parma home.
His eventual retirement from the workforce afforded him time to dazzle his daughter-in-laws, Denise and Rachael and swoon over his grandchildren Alyssa, Brady, Beatrice and Margaret.
Paul passed away on November 19, 2024 in the presence of family and loving caretakers at Joshua Tree Care Center in North Olmsted, Ohio. He is remembered as a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, co-worker, mechanic, Veteran, fixer-of-everything and a life-long practitioner of the Catholic Faith, supporting the Church and participating in Her Sacraments.
Funeral Mass, Military Burial and Memorial Gathering are scheduled for December 13, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family is offering this opportunity to donate in order to help pay for Final Expenses.
