In Memory of Pieter: Support for Lucian
Donation protected
It is with great sadness and disbelief that we share the sudden and very unexpected passing of Pieter de Vries. Pieter leaves behind his 15-year-old son Lucian, his pride and joy and his former spouse Sterling Bateman de Vries and of course his Mother & loved Brothers & Sister.
Pieter had peerless charisma, quick wit, sincerity, compassion, impeccable manners and was loyal beyond measure. His priceless smile would light up the darkest room. He had the innate ability to pick up anyone who might be in need of his hilarious one liners. Pieter was a simple yet sophisticated man, full of class and passion. He always enjoyed the Lowcountry waterways, the great outdoors, diverse wildlife, Mother Nature and his beloved family and friends. He truly loved being on the water and sharing that with his son Lucian.
Pieter took his career and work seriously, but he had fun while doing so. He started his career at Kiawah Island in 2003 and found Kiawah Island to be his career home and family, where he thrived as a Property Manager. Over 20 years, he created numerous lifelong friendships with property owners, co-workers, and business owners. He was incredibly successful and valued by many people and he inspired individuals' monumental growth too. Pieter was always a person that if you didn’t see him for a week, a month, or a year the conversation felt like it had just been a day since you last talked, and he would have you smiling or laughing by the end of the conversation.
Absolutely nothing can prepare you for losing your Dad at the age of 15. The family is understandably shocked by the loss and unfortunately not prepared for all that is happening. Losing a loved one is always difficult, but the sudden nature of this adds an especially difficult element to the grieving process for the family. The loss now creates a financial burden as Pieter provided for Lucian. Lucian and the de Vries family are in need of any and all support we can give them during this time of grieving and the carving out of a new way of life, still keeping in mind the life that Pieter would have wanted for his son.
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers, and we thank you for any help you can give. Although if you are not in the position to donate if you can share this GoFundMe page with your friends and family it would be a tremendous help.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your kindness, love and support during this heart-wrenching time.
Please keep Lucian and the de Vries family in your thoughts and prayers.
Peace for Piet
