“Not only do I cherish peace, I toyed with the idea of building a Peace Institute. It was not to be, but I did not let go of the dream." -Professor Washington Aggrey Jalang'o Okumu

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Washington Aggrey Jalang'o Okumu. "Daddy” died peacefully at his ancestral home, Dala Kwe (Home of Peace) in Kenya, East Africa on November 1st 2016.

His passion was peace and most will remember him as the “Big Man" who played a pivotal role in brokering peace between Nelson Mandela and Zulu Leader Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi, thus paving way for peaceful South Africa independence elections that brought the African National Congress (ANC) to power.

We covet your prayers and assistance during this difficult time of transition, as we make funeral arrangements and travel home for his burial.

Please visit the memorial page at the link below depicting stories about Professor's remarkable life and providing a place to send your condolence messages and any stories you wish to share. We have truly lost a man of great significance, integrity, stature and influence.
