In Memory of Quilter – Edward Runs for SUDEP

Hello, and thank you for being here.

My name’s Edward White, and this year, I’ll be running the Edinburgh Marathon on 25th May – my first ever marathon – in memory of our dear friend, Quilter, who passed away suddenly last year due to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

Quilter was a brilliant, kind, funny man who lit up every room. He left behind a truly incredible family – his beautiful son George, his loving wife Elise, and many more who miss him deeply every single day.

Losing Quilter so suddenly has been a heartbreak none of us saw coming. But in the middle of that heartbreak, there’s hope – and that hope comes from the work being done by SUDEP Action. This amazing charity helps families living with the sudden, devastating loss of a loved one to epilepsy.

This marathon isn’t just a personal challenge. It’s a tribute. It’s for Quilter. It’s for his family. And it’s for the countless others who find themselves in the same unimaginable situation.

I’ve set a goal to raise £1999, a number that means something special – the year Manchester United, Quilter’s favourite football club, won the treble. It felt like the perfect way to honour his memory. Ultimately, it's about raising as much as I can for a charity that means a great deal to me.

Where the money will go:

Every pound raised goes straight to SUDEP Action, supporting their vital work – from funding groundbreaking research to offering crucial support for grieving families.
